Hey! So you’ve decided to pursue a career in data analytics. Do you find yourself questioning almost everything and everyone in your environment? Do you like it when you get answers to your questions? Are you good at expressing your thoughts and ideas in a way that everyone can understand?

Well, then Data Analytics might be the perfect field for you to work in! 🤩

Maybe you’ve seen it before, or maybe you’re brand new to it; whatever the case, let me take you on a roller coaster journey to see whether this is the field for you!

What does Analytics actually mean?

So the google definition says analytics to be “the systematic computational analysis of data or statistics”, which has too many technical terms for my understanding 😂 So let’s break it down.

Analytics is just a process of analyzing datasets or any form of data, to know all the hidden secrets from it, which may be helpful for us in many ways. Well that sounds like a game everyone would be interested in!

What is data you ask? Data here is just different types of information that usually is represented in tabular form. Data can be text, numeric, or even images.

What does it actually involve?

Now that we have a basic idea, let’s look at what steps does it involve without getting into intricacies. The steps to data analysis -

The first step, establishing our questions and determining why we would use analytics, is without a doubt one of our favorites.

Second step involves the process of collecting data through a variety of online resources.

After we acquire the data, we must organize it before we can analyze it. Any software that can take statistical data can be used to organize it. After that, we’ll get to our favorite portion. We use the data to try to find solutions to our queries! Start digging into it, examining your data, manipulating it, posing new questions, and taking notes.

/* This step would probably be the longest and the most enjoyable part of the analysis😊*/

The last step is to share our findings, ideas, and projections. Although your friend may not comprehend the procedure, let us break down the outcomes for them. We can use graphs, figures, tables, and drawings to try to make easy-to-understand visualisations.

Therefore in layman terms we can consider analysis to be a 3 step process —

/* Though we have a lot of interesting steps in between them🤩*/

It’s just collect → analyze → communicate

So where do we actually use data analytics?

Some of it’s most important applications are in the fields of Security, i.e., in finding anomalies or threats, transportation, risk detection and management, healthcare, city planning, digital advertising and many more.

Over the past decade, data has evolved. Every company sector generates a large amount of data. Data analytics is critical at this moment because it aids organizations in improving their performance. Data Analytics is used in practically every industry because data is omnipresent.

Get going!
